Fergus Truck Show Named “Top 50 Ontario Festival” for 2006

The Fergus Truck Show is once again named a “Top 50 Ontario Festival” for 2006.  The announcement took place at the Ontario Festivals & Events Annual Convention held in Niagara Falls, February 23 to 26.  The Top 50 Festivals were selected through a nomination process that included a pre-determined set of criteria.

The Province of Ontario is host to over three thousand annual festivals and community events each year in Ontario, ranging from one-day street fairs to internationally renowned celebrations.  Festivals & Events Ontario “takes great pride in honouring these top-notch festivals and events, currently enjoyed each year by our visitors and residents alike”.

Certificates of Recognition were presented to the winning events during the prestigious President’s Gala.  The Honourable Mr Jim Bradley, Minister of Tourism for Ontario, presented the certificate to Fergus Truck Show Executive Director Sherry Clarke.

Fergus Truck Show President Wayne Billings said “it is an honour to receive this recognition for the third time!   On behalf of the Board of Directors, we are extremely pleased the Fergus Truck Show was selected a 2006 “Top 50” event!”

Mr Billings went on to state, “this prestigious recognition is the direct result of the devotion and dedication of so very many people - Co-Sponsors; Event Sponsors; Sponsors; Trade Show Participants; Show & Shine Contestants; Truck Pullers; and the Spectators.  Special acknowledgment and appreciation must be extended to the Fergus Truck Show Board of Directors; the Service and Sport Groups and the individual Volunteers assisting at the Show.”

The tremendous support of everyone involved has allowed the Fergus Truck Show to grow to be the ‘largest truck show in North America’.  The attendance at the 2005 Show was 54,203.  The Fergus Truck Show is the largest annual event in Canada to promote only Canadian performers, and the Truck Pulls are dubbed the most unique pulls in North America.  The Trade Show annually attracts over 240 vendors displaying trucks, trailers, equipments, accessories, recruiting, etc.

The 21st Annual Fergus Truck Show will be held on July 21st, 22nd, and 23rd at the Fergus Community Centre, 550 Belsyde Avenue, Fergus, Ontario, Canada.
