Fergus Truck Show - Donates to Local Groups

On January 16, 2006 the directors of the Fergus Truck Show presented cheques totaling $34,232.50 to 25 area groups who assisted at the July 22-24 event . The groups worked a total of 4501 hours at the 20th annual July event. This brings the total raised by the Fergus Truck Show for community groups and Fergus Recreation to more than $460,000.

President Wayne Billings stated “WOW!! What an event! Every year we are breaking records! The 2005 attendance was 54,203. The ‘Show & Shine’ completion had 630 entries, the Truck Pull attracted 183 pullers, and the Trade Show had over 333,000 square feet of actual site space (excluding hallways, aisles and/or walkways). We had 65 acres of manicured recreation grounds, plus 30 acres of rented land from the adjacent farm and approximately 40 acres that a local farmer uses for parking.

He went on to extend the Fergus Truck Show’s “sincere thanks and appreciations to the Event Sponsors - Premier Peterbilt and KICX 106.7 to the Co-Sponsors Toromont Cat, KICX 106.7, Canadian Tire, Mothers’ Wax, Cogeco, Labatt, HighwayStar, Truck & Trailer, Tim Horton’s, Michelin, Selectrucks, Shell Rotella T and Truck News. Also a special thanks to OCPFA (Ontario Country Performers and Fans Association). Our partnership with OCPFA provides a larger music venue. The support of all Fergus Truck Show Co-sponsors and Events Sponsors, the individual award sponsors, the equipment and service suppliers allows the Show to grow, to promote the trucking industry and Canadian music, and assists local groups in fund raising. We truly appreciated the support of all.”

The groups assisting had a total of 829 volunteers who worked 4501 hours prior to, at, or following the Show. In addition, there were hundreds of individual non group volunteers working during the weekend event. The Fergus Truck Show - ‘North America’s Largest Truck Show’ continued growth and success is the result of the dedication and support of so very many people and companies.
